Head of Operations – Job Description

Job Summary:

Freeset is seeking an experienced head of Production Operations, familiar with manufacturing companies, to lead our production teams across multiple businesses and geographies. We have 4 manufacturing units across West Bengal and looking to expand to almost 10 units. We are looking for a resourceful professional who can drive continuous improvement across our production lines and effectively develop each of their direct reports. We are focused on quadrupling our organization size in the next 5 years, so an ability to grow with the company is critical. The individual would manage and oversee a growing team of production and quality control managers.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Operations Measurement & Improvement
  • Lead production managers in ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products
  • Develop the metrics and dashboards to assess our costs, efficiencies, quality and other key operating metrics in a transparent and consistent way
  • Drive regular operational improvement initiatives to improve productivity (reduce costs), using lean principles and other best-practices (Kanban, Kaizen etc.)
People & Strategy Development
  • Work with the COO on our growth strategy to ensure proper expansion of production
  • Coordinate development of new factories and production units as part of expansion
  • Train current direct reports in operations and leadership to improve overall team performance and drive continuous improvement ethos
  • Ensure the production managers and staff understand, and live by the company’s core values and founding mission
Quality Control & Capability Building
  • Identify training needs to broaden Freeset’s manufacturing capabilities
  • Establish a quality control ethos across the production unit
  • Develop quality control systems to reduce product losses and rejects
Production Planning & Coordination
  • Work with distributors and buyers to establish product demand-supply forecasts and a robust production planning process for Freeset
  • Select and implement appropriate management systems (e.g. ERP or MRP) that allow Freeset to scale its operations sustainably and transparently

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience in operations or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing principles and operations best practices
  • Experience in lean manufacturing systems is strongly preferred

Quality Control Manager – Job Description

Job Summary:

Freeset is seeking a manager for Quality Control to develop quality control systems and protocols for our manufacturing units. We have 4 manufacturing units across West Bengal and are looking to expand to almost 10 units. We are looking for a resourceful professional who brings a structured and thoughtful leadership approach to developing quality systems and quality culture. We are focused on quadrupling our organization size in the next 5 years, so an understanding for scalability is critical. The individual would report to our Head of Operations and work alongside our production managers.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Operations Measurement & Improvement
  • Partner with production managers in ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products
  • Develop the tools, metrics and processes to identify, measure and correct quality control issues and embed quality culture
  • Drive regular operational improvement initiatives to improve quality (e.g. install quality check steps, organize remedial training, etc.)
  • Track and measure losses to our customer and company accruing from quality failures, and assess efficacy of improvement initiatives
People & Strategy Development
  • Work with the Head of Operations to train and equip our production staff and hold the organization accountable to its quality promise
  • Recruit and develop a team to operate the quality control function across all units

Communication Manager – Job Description

About the Communications Manager’s role:

  • Regular multi-media documentation of all programmes for Social Media, to enhance online presence of Freeset.
  • Write, edit, and research for the daily posts on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram etc.
  • Help run on-line/Social Media campaigns, as and when decided by the Senior Management
  • Manage communications systems within the company, including the company intranet.
  • Oversee the creation of posters, brochures and other publicity material.
  • Co-ordinate campaigns with sales partners and other stakeholders.
  • Manage requests for publicity material such as stories/photos and videos – especially from stake holders such as distributors, ensuring they receive material in a timely manner.
  • Manage the agreed permissions process for women sharing their stories, ensuring the women feel empowered and their stories are not exploited and misused.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to build awareness of Freeset as a business, as well as highlighting the issues it seeks to address.
  • Manage communications team, including volunteers.
  • Look for ways to develop women on staff with skills that can be used to help tell their story.
  • Work with partners to ensure the Freeset brand is used appropriately.

Educational Qualification:

Masters in Mass Media or, Journalism or, Social Sciences etc./MBA in Communications, Marketing etc. or related fields.

Experience and required skill-sets:

  • Ability to work with a team and lead others
  • Writing / reporting / story-telling experience
  • Ability to tell sensitive stories with compassion and care
  • Need at least some basic Bengali language
  • Comfortable with MS Word & Excel
  • Basic understanding of how website Content Management systems work
  • Some photography skills would be an advantage

Freeset Business Incubator Gateway Site Coordinator – Job Description

Job Summary:

Freeset is seeking a Site Coordinator for its Gateway Building.  The Gateway Site Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day running of the Gateway building, a multi-storey building which is part of the Freeset portfolio of locations.  The Gateway is strategically located for our work and we have some major future plans for the space.  Currently, there is a Tee-shirt sewing unit located in the building, as well as training, accommodation and office spaces.  In the future, a child care facility and a drop-in center will be based in the building as well as other ventures related to freedom business.  The Coordinator will also be responsible for accommodation properties which are outside of the Gateway, rented by Freeset Foreign staff and the caretaking of these premises.  We are focused on quadrupling our organization size in the next five years, so an ability to grow with the company is critical.The Gateway Site Coordinator will be based in Kolkata.  The Gateway Site Coordinator will report to Kolkata Buildings Manager based out of Kolkata.  If you are interested, send in your resumes to [email protected]

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising between the various groups who use the building to ensure harmonious use of the facilities and services, including room bookings.
  • Working with the Maintenance Manager to undertake basic maintenance as needed, to ensure smooth running of the building facilities.
  • Liaising with Kolkata Corporation and local councillor as required.
  • Facilitation of inward/outward goods as needed.
  • Responsibility for a high standard of cleanliness within the building, and oversight of related staff.
  • Ensuring the appropriate spaces are ready for the arrival of our valued guests.
  • Security of the building, including key allocation and register.
  • Initiating new systems and procedures in consultation with management.
  • Ensuring accommodation properties are maintained, and inventory of furnishings is maintained
  • Liaising with landlords, maintenance staff and contractors where necessary
  • Managing tenants in conjunction with foreign HR, and the arrival and departure procedures
  • Manage relationship with cell-tower tenants.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge Required:
    • Knowledge of Hindi in addition to Bengali and English preferred. Fluent in both English and Bengali – written and verbal is a must.
    • Good working knowledge of emails, Microsoft Office tools, internet, etc.

Job Summary:

Freeset is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager, familiar with the textile industry, to manage purchasing operations across our multiple businesses and geographies. We have four manufacturing units across West Bengal and looking to expand to almost ten units. We are looking for a resourceful profession who can develop systems to streamline ordering, save costs and improve raw material quality.  The person would focus on improving relationships with existing suppliers, recruiting new suppliers, and managing a broad range of spend categories. We are focused on quadrupling our organization size in the next five years, so an ability to grow with the company is critical.

The Procurement Manager will be based in Kolkata with extensive travel to other districts in West Bengal.  The Procurement Manager will report to The COO based out of Kolkata.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market (basic ability to understand market forces and supply chain risk)
  • Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software

Customer Care Executive (Bag Unit) – Job Description

Job Summary:

Freeset is seeking a talented individual to lead customer care for our largest manufacturing unit. We have 4 manufacturing units across West Bengal and looking to expand to almost 10 units. We engage with multiple marketing partners across US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. We are looking for a resourceful professional who can manage our critical customers and ensure a smooth experience working with Freeset. The individual will be responsible for managing order inquiries, quoting prices, processing orders, managing customer feedback and working on production planning and invoicing with our operations and accounts team. The role is one of the most critical to our company and a great launch-point to future leadership roles in the company.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Order Processing & Customer Management:
    • Manage relationships with existing distributors, customers and future customers
    • Ensure regular communication on order status, pricing and production issues
    • Maintain orderly records of all communications to customers
    • Manage the overall engagement with customers and act as the single point-of-contact for printing, manufacturing, logistics, finance and the final customer
    • Develop pricing and quotes for new custom orders and ensure timely order process
    • Problem solve issues with customers by phone and skype enhance their experience
  • Production and Capacity Planning:
    • Manage our capacity planner to ensure factory demand is met each month
    • Track our raw material inventory and ensure distributors have accurate data on lead-times, order status and delivery timelines

Nurse – Job Description

Job Summary:

The primary role of the registered nurse is to come alongside the women who work at Freeset and give them the tools to improve and be responsible for their own health needs, as well as the health needs of their family. This will include advocacy, training, and basic health assessments. This role  will also  include advocacy and health training in the red light district itself.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and build trusted relationships with women at Freeset
  • Provide advocacy on hospital visits when necessary
  • Refer women to additional sources of support, as appropriate
  • Complete health questionnaires for new staff members
  • Conduct home visits when required
  • Follow up on women with chronic health conditions eg Blood Pressure monitoring for those with hypertension
  • Support administrative and operational processes
  • Write and provide basic health training as required
  • Facilitate and collate health testing for new and current staff
  • Carry out additional assignments at the line managers request
